Thanks to former student @mari.v.wyk and her Prof @marenamanley , Mari did studies on our 105 year old culture last year in her masters thesis and we will share some of the results soon.

We got invited to the University of Stellenbosch to go and speak to future food scientists from the Department of Food science.

Just love going to to the veggie garden and see what’s for dinner…
Our own tomatoes 🍅, aubergine 🍆 and the olives 🫒 from my neighbours that I harvested and cured myself last year. Olive oil from Franschhoek and my favourite, the Marjoram flowers that we grew and dried out and keep next to our stove when cooking and use it as I did in tonight’s Pasta sauce.

Finding my way in the kitchen slowly again.
Lost my love for cooking as I used to after traveling for about 5 years on ships were you had to just go and dish up and never had to think about what to whip up.

Giant Sunflower 🌻 Challenge - Half way!!!

Today Marks 52 days of the 100 days for my sunflowers since I planted them.

I have planted 9 of them in my garden and these two are doing so well. Absolutely thrilled 😁

How’s yours doing?
I am about 1,78m in height and my one sunflower is probably 1,8m already.

The buds are showing and I am sure I’ll shortly see bigger heads.

They do need some support with this wind we have in Franschhoek, so I’ll be putting new supporters in a bit later today.
